Roger began his career in design as a studio assistant at the London company Flux Designs in 1985 and as a freelance designer role with international furniture design company Sunar Hauserman. In 1989 he began ‘Square One’ studio with clients including Viaduct Furniture, London/ Glosbrook and the Liverpool City Council. In 1994 Roger joined rds London as partner and design director. The company designed, developed, manufactured and sold contemporary furniture to clients as diverse as Diesel, British Airways, the V&A Museum London, Scottish parliament, KLM, Foreign and Commonwealth Offices, The Royal Opera House London, British Council, Warner Music and Virgin Music.

In 1999 he joined the Keen Group Ltd London, overseeing the design and development of office furniture solutions. Keens clients include Apple Computers, BBC, Chanel, IXC Tokyo and the Stella McCartney Studio. Roger left the UK in 2000, moving to Spain to oversee design development and manufacture of Keen Products in Barcelona. In 2002 he began designing in partnership with Jane Dillon and Tom Grieves working for International clients in the furniture industry.

Roger joined Unitec in Auckland New Zealand in 2004 where he was Associate Professor and Head of the School of Art & Design. He has taught at Liverpool Hope University, IED Barcelona and Eina Barcelona.

Roger now works at Sheffield Hallam University as Course Leader for the MA Design Programme (Product, Metalwork & Jewellery, Graphics, Packaging, Interior, Fashion, Illustration). Roger is a member of the SHU ADRC and has research interests in Sustainability + Design, Design + Health and Design Pedagogy. See below for recent projects.
