I am very please to tell you that the faculty for the Creative Industries and Business is hosting Cumulus Aotearoa .

To remind you about Cumulus Organisation click here  The Unitec Department of Design and Visual Arts has been a member of Cumulus since 2005.

Art and design workshop with particular foci on Story telling [ Talanoa] and Sustainability in a Māori and Pasifika dimension.

  • Powhiri [Māori welcome] at Wharenui ‘Ngākau Māhaki'

  • Welcome by Cumulus President – Christian Guellerin
  • Master Carver Lyonel Grant
  • Parallel speaker sessions, Including

o    Cultural & NZ designers

o    Kapa Haka & Poi instruction

  • Evening Hāngi [ancient New Zealand Māori method of cooking food using super heated rocks buried in the ground in a pit oven ]


Tuesday 10 November

  • Parallel speaker sessions, Including

o    Cultural & NZ designers


  • Poroporoake [Māori Goodbye / Farewell]
  • Pasifika lunch -Umu and cultural event at Unitec Fale
  • Dances & entertainment by Performing Screen Arts


Wednesday 11 November

  • Cultural trips around Auckland isthmus, and visits to other Universities
  • Travel to Melbourne
